KORREK – Finland’s most popular car care range

KORREK is a Finnish car care range

KORREK is Finland’s leading car care brand, with an average domestic content of 80 percent. All KORREK products are manufactured at Berner’s factory in Heinävesi, Eastern Finland. Almost all KORREK products carry the Avainlippu mark awarded by the Association for Finnish Work, signifying that the products are made in Finland and have a very high degree of domestic origin.

60-year-old KORREK

KORREK products have been manufactured in Finland for 60 years. The product range continues to grow and evolve, following international trends. The goal is to offer high-quality car care products that are easy to use and safe for both the environment and the user.

Six Decades of KORREK History

The KORREK car care story began in 1963 with the introduction of KORREK Antisalt rust protection products. The name KORREK comes from the Finnish words KORroosion ja RuosteenEstoKemikaalit (corrosion and rust protection chemicals).

In 1965, the first KORREK car wax was introduced. Domestic product development quickly proved its strength as KORREK Car Wax won Finland’s first car wax test, published in Tekniikan Maailma magazine in 1967. The test included a total of 15 different waxes.

Until the 1970s, car care products were mainly distributed through service stations and spare parts stores. During the 1970s, the use of plastic and vinyl in cars increased, creating the need for specialized cleaning and care products. In 1973, KORREK Interior Cleaner was launched, and the retail network expanded to include grocery stores.

In the 1980s, car owners still commonly serviced and repaired their vehicles themselves. This was reflected in the KORREK product range, which, in addition to waxes and cleaners, included several do-it-yourself car maintenance products such as KORREK Radiator Cleaner, KORREK Brake and Clutch Fluid, and KORREK Servol.

In the early 1990s, fluoropolymer technology was introduced to car waxes, better known under DuPont’s registered trademark Teflon. The KORREK range was expanded with a new product featuring this innovation, KORREK Teflox. By this time, automatic car washes had become increasingly common, and in response, KORREK introduced a range of machine wash products. At the same time, it was time to phase out the earliest KORREK products, the rust protection agents.

In the 2000s, various car care accessories made Finland’s best-known car care range even more versatile. New additions included KORREK Synthetic Chamois, KORREK Polishing Cloth, and KORREK Wheel Brush.

Since the 2010s, the car care industry has changed rapidly, and the time people spend on car maintenance has decreased. It was time to respond to this shift by developing even easier-to-use products. KORREK’s own thin film coating technology, developed in Finland, is based on safe hybrid polymer chemistry. Products using this technology, the KORREK Pro range, were launched in 2016.

In the 2020s, the thin film coating technology of the KORREK Pro series opened the door to international exports. KORREK products are now sold in the Nordic countries, Central Europe, and Japan. The KORREK Pro range has continued to grow, offering several specialized products designed to make car care easier and faster for active car enthusiasts.

In 2022, the KORREK brand was introduced as part of the KORREK Pro Center franchise concept, offering comprehensive car care services. KORREK Pro Center car washes provide a wide range of services, from washing and coating to windshield replacement. The goal is to build a nationwide KORREK Pro Center network that serves all Finnish car owners.
